A Four Hands Dinner with Pica Pica x ICHU

Last month, I had the opportunity to visit Pica Pica for the Pica Pica x ICHU Four Hands dinner. I’ve been to ICHU (a Peruvian restaurant) a few times and love the flavours and vibe but it was my first time visiting Pica Pica (a Spanish tapas bar). This street-facing Sheung Wan hotspot opened to great reviews last year (see Foodie’s review here) and I could quickly see why it was so popular.

Pica Pica is a great space. It’s open and has a cool, industrial feel that’s ideal for grabbing drinks and tapas with colleagues after work or enjoying a long leisurely meal with loved ones. The price point is also reasonable for the quality of the food.

Hong Kong is no stranger to Four Hands dinners but this was the first one I’ve seen where items can be ordered a la carte. Sometimes the menus are priced quite highly so this was an awesome way to try some interesting, experimental dishes without making too big of a dent. Below are some of the dishes we tried.

Tapas by Chef Edgar Sanuy of Pica Pica

Chiparon ($145)

Iberico pork morcilla, baby squid, ink sauce

Costilla ($180)

Slow-cooked Spanish black Angus beef rib, romesco, pickled onions

Callos ($85)

Traditional Spanish pork tripe stew with chorizo

Bikini ($80)

Goat cheese and truffle pate bikini sandwich

Tapas by Chef Sang Jeong

Ceviche ($180)

Yellowtail, yuzu, cancha

Quinoa ($75)

3 coloures quinoa salad, brussels sprouts, goat cheese, avocado

Pan Chapla ($175)

Peruvian pita bread, soft shell crab, aji amarillo

Pulpo ($150)

Octopus, leek puree, leek powder, crispy leek

Sadly this meal was on for two nights only but they might be hosting another in the future (let them know if you want to see it happen again … I definitely want another round of the Costillo and Pulpo dishes!). In the meantime, check out what both restaurants are offering on their own. I’d recommend one over the other depending on your mood: Pica Pica for chill outings and ICHU for more trendy, elegant vibes. Either way, you’re almost guaranteed a good time.
